About the event
Join us in Madison, Wisconsin as Robert Gonzales leads us in a life-changing, 4-day retreat to learn skills for holding on to our power and well-being in the midst of challenge. This is one of the only occasions to learn with Robert this year in the United States. Don’t miss this rare opportunity to practice empathy and compassion with this incomparable teacher.
This is an intermediate-level workshop. We assume all participants will have a shared foundational knowledge of Nonviolent Communication and an active practice. We encourage you to join us if you have been practicing Nonviolent Communication for a minimum of three to four months or have equivalent experience.
“Living Compassion in Challenging Times” is an opportunity to immerse yourself not only in a new way of thinking, but in a radically different way of being. In this workshop, we will explore how we can move forward individually and collectively from a center of love and compassion in these challenging times.
This workshop invites you to respond to the challenging questions of our time by first reframing the question. Rather than asking, “How can I make things better?” we can ask “How can I behold life and see it clearly, compassionately, through the heart and allow my heart to guide my actions in the company of people with shared values and shared vision?”
Robert Gonzales will present practices and processes he has developed in 30+ years of teaching Nonviolent Communication, and from his personal self-exploration into how to live with compassion moment-to-moment in any and every situation that arises. The workshop will incorporate teachings, process demonstrations and exercises, dyad meditations, guided group sessions, and silent integration times.
The beautiful, serene gathering spaces and grounds at Holy Wisdom Monastery will support our group exploration of Living Compassion.
